Item History
The Lovat Scouts were a renowned Scottish Highland yeomanry regiment formed by Lord Lovat during the Second Boer War. During the First World War, they saw extensive service on the Western Front, Gallipoli, and Salonika, famously becoming the British Army’s very first dedicated sniper unit. This classic circular cap badge pattern was worn proudly on the traditional Scottish Tam o’ Shanter and Glengarry hats. The twin-lug attachment style on the reverse allowed the badge to be pinned directly through the heavy wool fabric using a small split cotter pin.
