It features a detailed subdued olive drab design with the iconic central vertical sword, wings, and lower inscription scroll. The subdued color palette was specifically designed for tactical field and combat utility uniforms rather than bright dress uniforms.

It is a sew-on patch with a plain cloth back, making it a perfect addition for military collectors, historical reenactors, or to use as a replacement piece for vintage military flight jackets and field coats. Please review the provided close-up photos to see the precise stitching quality from the front and back.

Item History
The United States Air Forces in Europe (USAFE) is a major command directing US air operations across the European theater. This subdued style of insignia patch was introduced by the USAF around the late 1960s to 1970s to improve camouflage safety on field uniforms. The patch’s central design features a flaming sword that represents the command’s readiness to defend and strike, integrated with stylized wings that date back to historical Army Air Force traditions. Subdued patches like this were prominently worn on OG-107 fatigue shirts and field jackets throughout the Cold War era.
