Genuine British Army WWI Militaria – Collectible Cap Badge
Up for sale is an authentic, original World War I era brass cap badge for The Buffs (Royal East Kent Regiment). This beautiful piece features the sharply detailed regimental dragon walking upon grass, set above a scrolling text banner displaying “THE BUFFS”.
The reverse features the historically accurate twin lug/loop attachment mechanism, securely spaced at 20mm, typical of early 20th-century field and service caps.
History
The Buffs on the Western Front
The Buffs (Royal East Kent Regiment) saw extensive, heroic service during World War I. The regiment raised a total of 16 battalions during the war and was heavily engaged on the Western Front in France and Flanders, participating in major actions including the Battle of the Somme and Ypres. The iconic dragon emblem represents the Tudor dragon, an honor originally granted to the regiment to reflect its ancient roots dating back to the reign of Queen Elizabeth I.
