This is a genuine, antique World War I era British Army cap badge for the King’s Royal Rifle Corps (KRRC). The badge is beautifully struck in traditional blackened brass, featuring the Maltese Cross adorned with historic battle honours. The top is surmounted by the King’s Crown (KC) and the regiment’s famous motto scroll, “Celer et Audax” (Swift and Bold). The reverse features the correct, original long vertical slider used for securing the badge to the service dress cap or field service cap. A crisp, detailed piece perfect for Great War military collectors and insignia enthusiasts.

Item History
The King’s Royal Rifle Corps was a renowned elite infantry regiment of the British Army. During World War I, the KRRC expanded significantly, raising 22 battalions that saw heavy action on the Western Front, including the Somme and Ypres. Rifle regiments wore distinctively darkened, blackened brass badges rather than polished brass to remain camouflaged in the field. This specific King’s Crown design was proudly worn by riflemen throughout the Great War.
