Up for sale is an original British military 16th London Regiment / Queen’s Royal Rifles cap badge. Following the Maltese Cross pattern of the classic Rifle Brigade styles, this mid-century design beautifully highlights the unit’s historic late-WW2 campaigns. The lower arm cleanly displays “El Alamein”, “Italy 1943-45”, and “Athens”. It features the traditional dark, blackened finish designated for Rifle regiments to minimize reflection in the field.
Condition
- Overall State: Authentic vintage condition showing expected age, oxidation, and a rustic patina.
- Front Details: The extensive list of battle honours, internal shield details, and the top King’s Crown are all highly legible and sharp.
- Rear Details: The original vertical slider fixing is broken off / missing from the back. The reverse shows natural verdigris and oxidation spots from historical storage. Perfect for a front-facing frame display or restoration.

The 16th London Regiment has a distinguished history tracing back through the Queen’s Westminster Rifles and the King’s Royal Rifle Corps. Rifle regiments traditionally avoided shiny brass, opting instead for blackened badges to stay camouflaged while acting as skirmishers or snipers. This specific configuration stands as a monument to their crucial operations across the Mediterranean and North African theatres during the Second World War.
