Raised in 1912, the 10th Battalion London Regiment served with great distinction on the front lines of World War I, where they earned the famous nickname “The Hackney Gurkhas”. This specific pattern featuring the King’s Crown and the borough motto was worn by the unit from 1913 until 1937.
