Original 1956 Theatre Royal Nottingham Programme – Love Affair
Up for sale is a wonderful mid-century piece of British theatrical history. This original official programme captures the week commencing Monday, 30th April 1956 at the historic Theatre Royal, Nottingham.
The production featured is the play Love Affair, written by and starring the celebrated British actress Dulcie Gray alongside her longtime stage partner and husband, Michael Denison. Notably, the production features an early career stage appearance by a young Ian Holm (playing Rupert Bliss) and stars Sylvia Syms (playing Julia Fayne), making this an exceptional document for collectors of British acting legends.
The program includes vintage advertisements for local Nottingham establishments of the era, such as Thraves of Clumber Street, Harold Fisher Estate Agents, La Ronde Restaurant, and Mitchells and Butlers Export Beer. The opposite page advertises the upcoming spectacular production of Ivor Novello’s Glamorous Night on Ice.
