Up for sale is a highly collectible original vintage copy of Theatre World magazine, issue number 265, dated February 1947
This particular issue holds immense significance for television and film history enthusiasts, as it features an extensive, multi-page photo layout on Warren Chetham Strode’s West End play “The Gleam” during its acclaimed run at the Globe Theatre. This historic production marked the official professional stage debut of screen icon Honor Blackman (famous for Goldfinger and The Avengers), who is featured prominently in the crisp production photographs alongside co-stars Hugh Kelly and Frances Waring.
Additionally, the issue contains a fantastic feature on W. Somerset Maugham’s “Lady Frederick” at the Savoy Theatre starring Coral Browne (with photography by the legendary stage photographer Angus McBean), alongside post-war London theater news, vintage advertisements, and period reviews.
