Description
This is an authentic, original vintage British military cap badge belonging to the prestigious 9th/12th Royal Lancers. The detailed insignia features crossed cavalry lances with swallow-tailed pennons flanking the central Prince of Wales’s feathers. It is topped by the Queen Elizabeth II crown, with the Ich Dien motto scroll nestled below the feathers and a prominent lower scroll bearing the Roman numerals IX-XII. The reverse side features a sturdy brass slider mechanism securely brazed to the backplate. A fantastic, highly collectible specimen for British military historians, cavalry collectors, and regimental insignia enthusiasts.

Item History
The 9th/12th Royal Lancers was formed in 1960 by the amalgamation of the 9th Queen’s Royal Lancers and the 12th Royal Lancers (Prince of Wales’s). This specific bi-metal profile featuring the St. Edward’s (Queen’s) Crown was proudly worn by the regiment on their berets and service dress cap gear throughout the latter half of the 20th century before the regiment further amalgamated into the Royal Lancers.
