Item History & Background
The Highland Light Infantry (HLI) was raised in 1881 and served with distinction through both World Wars. This badge features a hollow-back, die-struck white metal design. The reverse shows the traditional horizontal copper loop lugs used to secure the insignia into the thick wool weave of Scottish glengarry headdress. Finding a vintage badge that still includes its original brass wire retaining pin is quite desirable, as these small pins were easily lost in the field or during uniform changes.
