Description
This is an authentic, genuine British military cap badge for the Edinburgh University Training Corps (T.A.). The badge is intricately die-struck in crisp white metal. It features the Edinburgh University heraldic shield bearing a Scottish thistle at the top, an open book in the center, and the iconic three-towered Edinburgh Castle at the base.
The shield is proudly surmounted by the King’s Crown (KC). Elegant flowing scrolls beneath the shield bear the full unit title: “Edinburgh University Training Corps (TA)”. The reverse is hollow-struck and retains its original mounting loop lugs spaced at 32mm. A fantastic, pristine piece of Scottish university militaria and Officer Training Corps history, ideal for specialized badge collections or historical displays.

The Edinburgh University Officers’ Training Corps has a storied history of preparing university students for military commissions, officially tracking its roots back to 1859. This specific white metal pattern featuring the “Training Corps (TA)” scroll text and the King’s Crown was introduced in the mid-20th century and worn until the ascension of Queen Elizabeth II in 1952. It represents a fascinating era of post-WWII British Territorial Army university training.
