This specific pattern badge with the King George V cypher was worn by troopers from 1910 through the Great War. The regiment saw heavy action on the Western Front, particularly at Ypres and the Somme. This style of badge became obsolete in 1922 when the 1st and 2nd Life Guards were amalgamated into a single unit, making this a strictly pre-1922 artifact.
