Up for sale is a rare, highly collectible piece of post-war West End musical theatre heritage: the official Strand Theatre programme for Noel Langley’s satirical musical “Cage Me A Peacock.”
Opening in June 1948, this hit musical comedy ran at the Strand Theatre until December 4th, 1948, before transferring to the Cambridge Theatre to complete its highly successful 337-performance run. Set in ancient Rome, the plot serves as a witty, tongue-in-cheek retelling of the Lucrece myth, written by famed author and The Wizard of Oz screenwriter Noel Langley, with a lively score composed by Eve Lynd.
