This collectible publication documents the original 1949 debut run of the play, which opened at the Savoy on 7th July 1949 and ran successfully into 1950. Presented by Stanley French Ltd (by arrangement with Alec L. Rea and E.P. Clift), this staging featured a highly distinguished cast of mid-century British acting icons. Notably, the production serves as the foundational basis for the famous 1951 British comedy film adaptation of the same title, which later featured Audrey Hepburn early in her career.
