Description: Up for sale is an authentic, original vintage 12-page souvenir fight program for The Last Hurrah WBC World Heavyweight Championship bout between Larry Holmes and Muhammad Ali. This historic event took place on Thursday, October 2, 1980, at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, Nevada. The front cover features iconic artwork by legendary sports artist LeRoy Neiman.
Fight History and Significance: This match was famously billed as The Last Hurrah. It marked a monumental moment in boxing history as 38-year-old Muhammad Ali came out of retirement to try and win the world heavyweight title for an unprecedented fourth time. He fought his former sparring partner, the undefeated reigning champion Larry Holmes. The fight was incredibly historic as a massive global audience tuned in, and Caesars Palace constructed a special outdoor arena just to host the event. Larry Holmes ultimately won the match when Ali’s trainer stopped the fight at the end of the 10th round, making it the only time in Ali’s entire career that he was stopped in the ring. This program is an incredible, preserved piece of that unforgettable sports history
