The 37th BRDC International Trophy marked a massive milestone in motorsport. Driven by changing regulations, the event debuted the 3000cc Cosworth V8 formula. The race itself became famous for its unpredictable wet March weather, with Mike Thackwell eventually taking the checkered flag in a Ralt-Cosworth to become the world’s first F3000 race winner.
