Description
This listing features a genuine vintage black-and-white newspaper clipping capturing the Tottenham Hotspur F.C. 1968–1969 squad lineup. The front displays the full first-team players and coaching staff posing together in their classic retro Spurs home kits. Crucially, the front features an authentic, original hand-signed autograph clearly penned in blue ink by Spurs legend Alan Gilzean.
The reverse side of the clipping features an interesting historical article from the sports page detailing classic match breakdowns between Wolves and Tottenham. It mentions legendary football names alongside an original printed promotional coupon for the Wolverhampton Wanderers F.C. Souvenir Shop at the Molineux Grounds. Measuring exactly 8.5x14cm, this unique dual-sided piece of historical memorabilia is ideal for framing, scrapbooks, or adding to a dedicated Tottenham Hotspur or English football collection.
Condition
- Used / Vintage Autographed Condition
- The clipping is cleanly cut from the original newspaper page with neat edges.
- The paper backing displays natural vintage toning and light handling wear typical of old newsprint, but all text remains highly legible.
- The original blue ink autograph is clear, distinct, and nicely centered without heavy fading.
- No severe folds, pinholes, or tears cross the main player faces or signature area.
Item History
This unique piece originates from a long-term private collection of UK football clippings and memorabilia. It has been safely stored flat inside an archival plastic sleeve within a smoke-free and moisture-free environment. This protection has effectively shielded the delicate newsprint from excessive yellowing and kept the vintage blue pen autograph sharp and beautifully intact over the decades.
