Description
Up for sale is an exceptional and highly sought-after solid silver cap badge representing the British American Squadron (B Squadron) of the King’s Colonials. Formed in London in 1901, this specialized Imperial Yeomanry unit was comprised of Canadian and American volunteers living in the UK who wished to serve the Crown.
The face of the badge features a beautifully detailed beaver chewing a log, set against a multi-veined maple leaf backdrop with a flowing banner below. While standard other-ranks variants were produced in brass, this scarce silver issue features crisp die-stamping details and a stamped “SILVER” hallmark across the reverse. It is accompanied by its long brass securing cotter pin. This is an essential centerpiece for any advanced early 20th-century British Empire, Canadian, or Anglo-Boer War militaria collection.

Item History
The 4th County of London Imperial Yeomanry (King’s Colonials) was raised in November 1901, with the Prince of Wales serving as its Honorary Colonel. The regiment was unique for its distinct squadrons organized by dominion, with the British American Squadron heavily honoring its Canadian and expatriate US contingents. This specific unit later evolved into King Edward’s Horse. Authentic precious metal variations stamped “SILVER” are significantly rarer than standard-issue brass badges, as they were usually reserved for private purchase by officers or senior ranks.
