Description
Up for sale is a genuine, original British military King’s Royal Rifle Corps (KRRC) cap badge. This highly sought-after, larger-pattern Maltese Cross configuration dates to the early 1900s following the conclusion of the Second Boer War. The lower arm features the highly desirable “Defence of Ladysmith” and “Relief of Ladysmith” battle honours. It retains its proper traditional blackened, non-reflective finish designed historically to maintain concealment for riflemen on the battlefield.
Condition
  • Overall State: Good used antique condition with a rich, historic service appearance.
  • Front Details: The extensive, tiny stamped battle honours across all four arms of the cross remain incredibly distinct and readable under magnification.
  • Rear Details: Displays a completely authentic aged patina. (Note to Buyer: Please inspect the rear side of your badge to check if the original slider or fixing loops are intact, as the reverse is not pictured here).
Item History

The King’s Royal Rifle Corps holds one of the most storied combat records in the British Army. Originally raised in colonial America as the Royal Americans, they evolved into an elite skirmishing unit. This specific badge design reflects the immediate aftermath of the South African Boer War (1899–1902), celebrating the legendary siege and relief actions at Ladysmith. Because it represents a narrow production timeframe before the 1910 multi-honour revisions, it is a key piece for specialized militaria collectors.
