Item Description – Rare No. II (Field) Squadron RAF Regiment Bullion Parachutist Badge

Overview: Up for auction is an exceptionally rare, original British military qualification badge from the World War II era. This is an “unusual pattern” private-purchase badge, featuring high-quality hand-embroidery in gold and silver bullion wire on a dark felt background. 

Design Details: Top: Classic blue and white parachute flanked by outspread gold bullion wings.

Center: The Roman numeral “II” positioned over the word “FIELD.” Below this is a secondary set of silver wings surrounding a central gold column.

Bottom: The word “AIRBORNE” embroidered in a gold bullion arc.

Historical Significance: The “II FIELD” designation refers to No. II Squadron RAF Regiment, which famously adopted a parachute capability. This specific bullion variation was typically commissioned by officers for use on No. 1 Dress (Ceremonial) or Mess Dress uniforms. Due to its unique design, it is a highly sought-after piece for specialists in British Airborne and RAF Regiment insignia.

Condition: Authenticity: Genuine period construction with characteristic ageing to the bullion wire.

Reverse: Original paper/felt backing intact.

Size approximately 108 mm tall and 82 mm wide. I believe this to be an Original badge, in very good condition but showing genuine signs of age….. Please study pictures carefully to decide.
