post-WWII French Army Model 1945 sleeve insignia (known in French as a losange de bras). It designates a specific unit and rank within the cavalry branch.
Description
- Shape: Black wool-felt diamond patch.
- Top: Number 8 inside a silver-grey embroidered diamond.
- Bottom: Two dark blue-purple embroidered rank chevrons.
History
- Design: Standard French Army “Model 1945” sleeve insignia pattern.
- Unit: Represents the historic 8th Hussars Cavalry Regiment.
- Wear: Sewn onto the upper left arm of uniforms after WWII.
