The design showcases a central hart (deer) crossing a ford, surrounded by an oval band inscribed with “HERTFORDSHIRE YEOMANRY”. This particular badge design was adopted following the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II in 1953, replacing the older King’s Crown versions. The iconic “Hart crossing a ford” emblem is a traditional symbol taken directly from the county coat of arms for Hertfordshire. Silver-plated finishes like this one were specifically purchased by officers for their service dress.
