Description
Up for sale is the reverse-side view of an original vintage royal blue military single-stripe rank sleeve chevron. This view highlights the genuine, period-accurate construction of the patch, showing the woven off-white raw fabric foundation where the deep blue face material wraps around the borders. It also features its original factory green tracking adhesive points at the tips, which were used to hold the chevron flush against uniform templates before permanently stitching. A wonderful piece for collectors looking to verify authentic, unissued military manufacturing techniques.
Condition
- Vintage / Used / Unissued Backing: The reverse side shows authentic age-related storage discoloration, light foxing, and surface spotting common in vintage military textiles. The structure is completely solid, with no rot, unraveling threads, or loose seams. The green adhesive remnants are original and firmly fixed to the backing.
Item History
This style of reverse canvas weaving was highly typical for insignia manufactured between the 1950s and 1980s for European and Commonwealth uniform contracts. The green adhesive backing spots were applied by factories to streamline assembly line applications, helping uniform fitters securely pin or temporary glue the rank stripes onto tunics prior to running them through standard heavy industrial sewing machinery.
