The 7th Dragoon Guards was a distinguished cavalry regiment of the British Army first raised in 1688. Widely recognized by their famous nickname, “The Princess Royal’s”, they proudly wore this specific rampant lion insignia during the World War I era. Shortly after the war in 1922, the regiment was amalgamated with the 4th Royal Irish Dragoon Guards to form the 4th/7th Dragoon Guards, making these un-amalgamated pre-1922 badges highly sought after by militaria collectors.
