History
This is a genuine original First World War period home front lapel badge issued to the Kent Veteran Reserve. Formed in 1910, the Veteran Reserve registered ex-soldiers, officers, and volunteers to organize them for home defense duties. The title was later changed to the National Reserve. The front depicts the King’s Tudor Crown above the rearing White Horse of Kent and the county’s historic motto INVICTA. The reverse features the highly collectible maker stamp of local military outfitter Croneen New Brompton.
Description and Condition
Excellent authentic antique condition with a superb, deep uncleaned reverse patina. The maker mark text CRONEEN NEW BROMPTON is fully legible and sharply stamped. The original large brass horseshoe-pattern buttonhole lapel fitting is firmly attached,.The piece shows honest age-related surface wear and retains its complete historic character. Please review both front and back photos to verify full cosmetic details.
