Product History & Significance: This is a guaranteed original, die-stamped white metal cap/glengarry badge for The London Scottish (14th County of London Battalion, The London Regiment), an elite and highly famous territorial unit of the British Army.
This beautifully detailed insignia features the St. Andrew’s Saltire cross overlaid with the Scottish lion rampant and the proud unit motto “STRIKE SURE”. Directly under the lion’s feet is the localized battle honor “S. AFRICA 1900-02”, celebrating the unit’s volunteer service during the Second Boer War. Worn prominently by the regiment on their traditional Hodden Grey glengarry hats, soldiers of this unit fought heroically across the Western Front during the First World War—being the first territorial unit to enter action at Messines in 1914—and later deployed to the Italian and North African campaigns during World War II.
