Product Overview: For sale is an authentic, original Queen’s Own Royal West Kent Regiment Cap Badge dating from the WWI era. This classic piece of British Army infantry insignia is struck entirely in its correct all-white metal (nickel-silver alloy), featuring the rearing White Horse of Kent (“Invicta”) above the double regimental scroll. A fantastic piece of genuine frontline history for any militaria, British Army, or World War collector.
Historical Context: The Queen’s Own Royal West Kent Regiment was an exceptionally distinguished line infantry unit of the British Army, originally formed in 1756. During World War I, the regiment expanded drastically, raising 18 battalions that fought with immense bravery on the Western Front (including the Somme and Ypres), Italy, and Mesopotamia. During World War II, they added to their legendary status across multiple theaters. Most notably, their 4th Battalion played a monumental role in the brutal Battle of Kohima in 1944, holding the line against overwhelming odds in what is often called the “Stalingrad of the East.
