Up for sale is an original, genuine British Army cap badge for The Royal Sussex Regiment. The striking design features the Star of the Order of the Garter in white metal, featuring the central Garter motto “Honi Soit Qui Mal Y Pense”. The star sits over a white metal Rousillon plume. The lower brass scrolls read “THE ROYAL SUSSEX REGT”. This is an excellent, authentic piece of early 20th-century British infantry history for any militaria collection.

Item History
The Royal Sussex Regiment was a line infantry regiment of the British Army. During World War I, the regiment expanded dramatically, serving with exceptional distinction on the Western Front (including the Somme), Gallipoli, and Italy. The unique design incorporates the Rousillon plume, which was won by the 35th Regiment of Foot at the Battle of Quebec in 1759 after defeating the French Royal Rousillon Regiment.
