Product Overview: For sale is an authentic, original Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry Cap Badge dating from the World War II era. This premium piece of British Army infantry insignia is die-stamped in its correct all-white metal (nickel-silver alloy), depicting the meticulously detailed strung bugle horn and tassel cords. The reverse features an authentic, sought-after manufacturer stamp. A superb piece of genuine combat history for any serious militaria collector or WWII historian.
Historical Context : The Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry (famously known as the Ox & Bucks) was one of the most elite and decorated light infantry regiments in the British Army. They achieved absolute immortality during World War II. On the night of 5th/6th June 1944, glider-borne troops of the 2nd Battalion Ox & Bucks executed a textbook assault to capture Pegasus Bridge in the opening minutes of the D-Day landings. This legendary coup de main action was the very first Allied objective secured on D-Day, making this specific cap badge highly revered and heavily collected by WWII airborne and D-Day historians worldwide.
