The Highland Regiment was briefly established during World War II in 1942 as a training unit framework based in Aberdeen, Scotland. It was designed to train recruits before they were assigned to standard frontline Scottish regiments (such as the Black Watch, Gordon Highlanders, or Seaforth Highlanders). Because the regiment only existed for a short period during the war, these distinct circular “Highland Regiment” cap badges are relatively scarce and highly targeted by specialized militaria collectors.
