This is an authentic, original vintage British military cap badge belonging to The Royal Scots (Lothian Regiment). The detailed insignia showcases the radiant multi-pointed Star of the Order of the Thistle, framing a central circle that features St. Andrew holding his diagonal saltire cross. Below the figure sits a beautifully struck brass scroll reading THE ROYAL SCOTS. The reverse side preserves its historic construction with two copper wire loop lugs securely fastened to the backplate. Item History
Formed originally in 1633, The Royal Scots rank as the historic First Regiment of Foot and the oldest line infantry regiment in the British Army. This specific bi-metal badge profile with a voided center and wire fastening lugs was heavily produced and worn throughout the World War I and World War II eras on traditional Scottish bonnets, glengarries, and service dress headgear.
