Description
This magnificent 75cm vintage table lamp beautifully embodies the luxury and glamour of the Hollywood Regency era. Substantially constructed with a heavy solid brass body, the lamp is built around a stately baluster column featuring an eye-catching polished brass sphere and architectural tiered ring elements.
The crown features a premium dual cluster socket system configured with elegant curved S-branch arms, allowing you to operate two lightbulbs independently using their original, individual brass ball-link pull-chain switches. The entire brass body sits on a unique 6-sided hexagonal dark wood base that safely grounds the tall design. The bottom of the wooden block is completely covered with soft green protective felt and padded foam cushions to keep your tabletop surfaces safe from scratches. This tall, imposing statement piece is perfect for an executive desk, a luxury living room sideboard, or a sophisticated bedside table setting.
Condition
- Overall Condition: Used – Very good vintage condition with honest age-related wear.
- Brass Metalwork: The heavy brass body is structurally pristine with no dents, deep scratches, or cracks. The metal shows a beautiful, even golden satin luster with only minor, faint surface character marks and light patina spots on the column sections.
- Wooden Base Note: The solid hexagonal wooden plinth base is stable and structurally sound. The lower wooden rim shows visible scuffing, edge chipping, and finish wear to the dark stain/varnish from historical display, which can be easily touched up with a wood marker if desired.
- Underside & Feet: The green protective felt liner is heavily intact, and four modern non-slip adhesive foam pads are firmly attached to the corners to provide a scratch-free hold on furniture.
- Pull-Chains & Sockets: Both dual sockets are firmly seated on their curved branches, the original internal cardboard insulation sleeves are present, and both pull-chain mechanisms click smoothly and independently.
- Wiring: The power cord is completely intact. As with all pre-owned vintage electrical lighting items, we recommend having a qualified technician or electrician perform a safety check prior to continuous daily use.
Item History
Dating from the mid-to-late 20th century (circa 1960–1970), this style of tall, dual-socket candlestick lamp was a staple of high-end American and European interior design. Designed to project significant light downwards and outwards from underneath a large drum shade, these heavy brass lamps were favored for their substantial build quality and theatrical pull-chain operation. It represents a time when lighting was manufactured to last a lifetime.
