The Household Cavalry is the senior-most corps of the British Army and serves as the official royal bodyguard to the Monarch.
This specific badge design with the EIIR royal cypher was introduced following the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II in 1952. It was produced in Staybrite (anodised aluminium)—a material adopted by the British military after WWII to ensure uniforms remained lightweight and perfectly shiny without the intensive, daily labor of brass polishing. This badge was officially manufactured by the renowned insignia outfitters H.W. Timmings Ltd of Birmingham, making it a highly desirable, authenticated variant for insignia collectors.
