Item description

• Item: Hungarian People’s Army Naval / Danube Flotilla Qualification Badge.
• Design: Waving communist red flag, Hungarian tricolor border, laurel wreath base, and a ship’s anchor/helm emblem on a light blue enamel bar.
• Defect Note: The lower class rating numeral shield component is missing, leaving an open mounting hole.
• Condition: Bright enamel work on the main components, but sold as-is for parts or restoration due to the missing class shield.

• Era: Cold War (circa 1970s–1980s).
• Origin: Communist-era People’s Republic of Hungary (Warsaw Pact).
• Purpose: Awarded to naval personnel, officers, and sailors serving in Hungary’s Danube Flotilla who passed strict naval proficiency testing. Because Hungary is landlocked, their navy operated entirely as a heavily armed riverine force on the Danube River to secure the Eastern Bloc border.
