Up for sale is an authentic, obsolete British Army post-1952 silver-plated officer-pattern cap badge for the RMP Corps. This beautifully detailed insignia features a prominent central EIIR royal cypher representing Queen Elizabeth II, encircled by a traditional laurel wreath and surmounted by the Queen’s Crown (QC). The lower section displays an elegant scroll inscribed with the official historical corps name. Unlike common standard-enlisted versions, this premium variant features two secure copper/brass fixing lugs on the reverse side rather than a slider.
History & Era Context
The RMP is the branch of the British Armed Forces responsible for the policing of military personnel and providing security presence on historical operations. Following the accession of Queen Elizabeth II in 1952, the corps updated its official insignia to feature her personal EIIR cypher and the Queen’s Crown. Silver-plated variations featuring rear attachment lugs were specifically designated for commissioning officers and Warrant Officers Class I (WOI) to distinguish their uniform dress headwear from standard rank-and-file troops.
