This is a guaranteed Genuine, Original vintage military cap badge representing the historic Warwickshire Imperial Yeomanry (IY). The piece features a crisp, beautifully detailed die-stamped depiction of the traditional county emblem: the bear and ragged staff. The reverse side features its two original, vertically aligned copper wire lugs (loops) intact to secure the badge onto a period slouch hat or service dress cap. The “I.Y.” designation stands for Imperial Yeomanry, which was primarily active during the Second Boer War and the years leading directly into WW1. The Warwickshire Imperial Yeomanry fought with distinction in South Africa before being reorganized into the Territorial Force in 1908. This specific white-metal badge pattern featuring the “I.Y.” scroll is highly prized by collectors because it marks this short, specific early-1900s transition window, making genuine surviving 2-lug variants exceptionally sought after.
