Size approximately 47 mm tall and 26 mm wide and lug to lug 36 mm…….I believe this to be an Original badge, in very good condition but showing genuine signs of age……. Please study pictures carefully to decide.

Item Description: Original Fife & Forfar Imperial Yeomanry Cap Badge (King’s Crown)

This is a rare, period-original brass (gilding metal) cap badge for the Fife & Forfar Imperial Yeomanry. This specific “Imperial” title was only used for a brief period between 1901 and 1908, making this a much scarcer and more desirable find for collectors than the standard World War issues.

Key Features & Condition:

Design: Features the iconic “Thane of Fife” (a mounted knight) set within a crowned oval bearing the regimental title.

Era: Edwardian / Pre-WWI (King’s Crown).

Construction: High-quality die-struck construction with a hollow reverse, confirming its military-issued authenticity.

Material: Brass / Gilding Metal with a deep, genuine aged patina. It has not been cleaned or polished, preserving its historical character.

Attachment: Complete with original twin lugs on the reverse and includes the brass cotter pin.

Condition: Excellent vintage condition. The striking is crisp with clear details on the knight and lettering. 

Historical Significance:

The Fife & Forfar Imperial Yeomanry saw service in the Second Boer War before being redesignated as the Fife and Forfar Yeomanry in 1908. Badges from this “Imperial” window are highly prized by collectors of British Cavalry and Yeomanry insignia.
