Condition: Excellent antique condition with a stunning, completely untouched dark natural patina on both the front and reverse. The scroll lettering LANCASHIRE HUSSARS IY is crisp and perfectly legible. The reverse features two original, completely intact, and sturdy copper mounting loops (lugs). Please examine all high-resolution photos to verify the premium loop configuration and beautiful condition before purchasing.

Regimental History: The Lancashire Hussars were originally formed in 1848 as a Yeomanry cavalry regiment. Following the lessons of the Second Boer War, the regiment was reorganized in 1901 as the Lancashire Hussars Imperial Yeomanry (denoted by the IY on the scroll of this badge). They were a premier volunteer cavalry unit based out of Ashton-in-Makerfield. During World War 1, the regiment mobilized to form three distinct operational regiments, serving with distinction on the Western Front in France and later in the Mediterranean theatre.
