Item History – The South Staffordshire Regiment was a distinguished line infantry regiment of the British Army. Their emblem prominently features the ancient Staffordshire Knot, a regional symbol dating back centuries. This specific variation features the St. Edward’s Crown, which was introduced into British military insignia following the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II in 1953. The long slider design allowed soldiers to easily slot the badge into the front band of their service hats or berets.
