Description
This is an authentic, original World War I British Army cap badge issued to the 1st Battalion, Warwickshire Volunteer Regiment. The insignia beautifully depicts the historic Warwickshire county symbol of the chained bear climbing a ragged branch, cradled inside a sweeping regimental title banner. The Volunteer Training Corps (VTC) units were established during the early stages of the Great War for home defense and were later formalized into official volunteer battalions. This genuine piece of British military history features superb strike detail and crisp lettering, making it a fantastic addition to any WWI militaria or cap badge collection.

Item History
The Warwickshire Volunteer Regiment was raised during the First World War (1914–1918) as a part-time home defense force. Initially established to guard infrastructure, release regular soldiers for frontline duties, and train local recruits, the 1st Battalion was heavily recruited from the Birmingham and Warwickshire regions. These specialized unit-specific scrolls are highly valued by collectors today because these early volunteer units were later consolidated or redesigned into the standard Royal Warwickshire Regiment battalions later in the war.
