Title: WW2 French Order of Social Merit 15mm Miniature Medal Chevalier Merite Social
Description:
A beautiful, original miniature version of the French Order of Social Merit (Ordre du Mérite Social), Knight (Chevalier) grade. This obsolete civil order was established in 1936 and replaced by the National Order of Merit in 1963, making it a desirable piece for collectors of French history and WW2-era decorations.
Key Features:
Size: 15mm star width (Miniature dress size for evening wear).
Design: Seven-pointed light-blue enamelled star with a white central medallion and a silvered laurel wreath.
Inscriptions: The reverse central disc bears the tiny original inscription “Ministère du Travail” (Ministry of Labour).
Ribbon: Original orange silk ribbon with light-blue side stripes.
Era: WW2 Period (Awarded 1936–1963).
Condition: Excellent vintage condition. The enamel is intact and the silvered bronze has a lovely natural aged patina.
Note to Collectors: This is a genuine MINIATURE dress medal, measuring approximately 15mm across. It has not been cleaned or polished to preserve its historical character. Please see the photos for the fine details of the stamping and enamel.
