This is an authentic, original World War 1 military cap badge for the scarce Huntingdonshire Cyclist Battalion. The die-stamped badge features the iconic “Rising Stag” design positioned directly above the regiment’s name scroll. This piece is made of solid brass and has a dark brown/bronze painted coating applied over the metal. The reverse side features the classic long vertical slider attachment completely intact. A fantastic, rare addition for any British Army, WWI, or military bicycle corps collector.

Item History
Formed in 1914 just before the outbreak of the First World War, the Huntingdonshire Cyclist Battalion was a highly specialized Territorial Force unit of the British Army. Rather than using horses, these troops used bicycles for rapid transit, reconnaissance, and coastal defense work. The distinctive “Rising Stag” emblem was adapted directly from the ancient seal of the town of Huntingdon. Original badges from this bicycle unit are highly sought after by militaria enthusiasts due to the battalion being disbanded shortly after the war ended.
