Description: This is an original, genuine British Army cap badge for the Leicestershire Regiment, dating from the late 19th century to the end of WWII. It is a classic “bi-metal” design featuring the iconic Royal Tiger standing on a grassy ground.
Design & Symbolism: The Tiger: Awarded to the regiment in 1825 by King George IV in recognition of their exemplary service in India (1804–1823).
“Hindoostan” Scroll: Superscribed above the tiger, commemorating the location of their historic service.
Pre-1946 Pattern: This badge identifies the regiment as the “Leicestershire Regiment.” In 1946, they were granted “Royal” status; badges after that date include the word “Royal” on the bottom scroll.
