Description
This is an authentic reverse-view listing update for the 16th London Regiment (Queen’s Westminster Rifles) cap badge. The back of the badge shows the classic production marks of an early 20th-century British military insignia. It features a deep, crisp, hollow die-stamped reverse that perfectly matches the front portcullis and Maltese cross design. Fixed securely to the sides are two original, East-West facing copper wire attachment loops, which allowed soldiers to slide a split pin through the badge inside their Service Dress peaked caps.

Item History
Prior to the widespread use of flat sliders, early Territorial Force battalions like the 16th London Regiment relied on brazed copper loop fasteners (lugs). This horizontal arrangement was specifically utilized on the 1908-pattern Queen’s Westminster Rifles insignia throughout the First World War (1914–1918). It allowed the badge to sit flat and flush against the fabric band of the stiff or soft-topped trench caps used by troops on the Western Front.
