Description Item: Original British Army Essex Regiment Cap Badge Era: World War I / World War II (Great War to WWII) Material: Bi-Metal (Gilding metal and White metal) Fitting: Original brass slider (as shown in photos) Details: Up for sale is a genuine, period-original cap badge for The Essex Regiment. This is the classic “Other Ranks” bi-metal design featuring: The Sphinx over the “Egypt” tablet at the top. The Castle and Key of Gibraltar in the center. An oak leaf wreath with the regimental scroll “The Essex Regt” at the bottom. Condition: The badge is in excellent vintage condition with a lovely natural patina. The slider is firm and original to the piece. There is some minor service wear and light traces of old polishing residue on the reverse, which confirms its age and authentic field use.
