DescriptionAn authentic, original British military cap badge worn during the First World War (WW1) by the historic Westmorland & Cumberland Yeomanry. This die-stamped brass insignia displays exceptional detail, showcasing the iconic three sprigs of heather central motif. It is topped with a distinct King’s Crown, dating the badge pattern to the 1914–1918 Great War era. It features a traditional dual-lug mounting configuration on the reverse side with a standard 20 mm spacing gap. An excellent addition to any British Army cavalry or WW1 militaria collection.
Item HistoryFormed originally in the late 18th century, the Westmorland and Cumberland Yeomanry served with distinction as a cavalry unit during the Second Boer War and on the Western Front in the First World War. This particular pattern of badge with the King’s Crown was introduced post-1908 and actively worn until the early 1920s. The fixed loop lugs confirm it as an early pattern piece intended for a service dress cap or trench headgear used by the Yeomanry during the war.
