Item Description- Original WWII British Army 44th (Home Counties) Division Formation Sign
This is a genuine printed cotton (Ordnance Issue) formation sign for the 44th (Home Counties) Infantry Division. This 3rd pattern design features the iconic yellow trident on a red oval background with a yellow border.
Construction: Screen-printed on wartime utility cotton/calico fabric.
Condition: Good vintage condition. The colors remain vibrant.
Reverse: The back shows original paper and adhesive residue, consistent with being professionally removed from a period collector’s album or tunic. This is a key indicator of its authenticity.
History: The 44th Division served with distinction in the North African Campaign (Battle of Alam el Halfa and El Alamein) and later in North-West Europe.
