The Northamptonshire Regiment was an infantry regiment of the British Army active from 1881 until 1960. The design honors their legendary service at the Siege of Gibraltar (1779 to 1783) and the Battle of Talavera (1809) during the Peninsular War. This specific bi-metal slider pattern was proudly worn on the service dress caps and berets of regular soldiers serving throughout the World War II era.
