This is an authentic, 100% genuine World War II era British military insignia for a Royal Air Force Officer’s Side Cap. This is the highly desirable and scarcer two-piece variant featuring a separate eagle in full flight and an independent King’s Crown (KC).
Both pieces utilize the threaded screwback post fixing style. This listing includes the two original circular brass wheel nuts that thread onto the posts perfectly to securely clamp the badge to the cap cloth. This matching hardware configuration is highly sought-after by serious RAF, Battle of Britain, or worldwide aviation militaria collectors.

Item History
This two-piece crowned eagle design was standard issue for Royal Air Force officers, worn on the side of the Field Service cap (forage cap) throughout WWII. Screwback variants were a premium alternative to standard cotter-pin lugs, favored by officers because they allowed the badge to sit perfectly flush against the cap material. Finding these badges complete with their original matching thumb nuts is becoming increasingly rare.
