Original WWII British Army 42nd (East Lancashire) Division Formation Sign
This is an authentic printed cotton (Ordnance Issue) formation sign for the 42nd (East Lancashire) Infantry Division. It features the iconic Red Rose of Lancaster on a white background, centered on a red square.
Construction: Screen-printed on wartime utility cotton fabric.
Condition: Good vintage condition. This is a uniform-removed example with clean, vibrant colors on the front.
Reverse: The back (shown in photos) displays original age-toning and light residue from being previously mounted in a period collector’s album. This is a clear indicator of originality and authenticity.
History: The 42nd Division was a famous Territorial Army unit that served in the Battle of France (1940) and later transitioned to an armored role.
